How do I use this sector tracker to find stocks mutual funds are buying?

Each sector page on this tracker shows how many active mutual funds hold every stock in that sector — with four months of trend data so you can see whether institutional interest is rising or falling. Click any sector card above to see the full stock-by-stock breakdown. For a broader view of where funds are concentrated, explore the top stocks page or the funds directory.

A rising fund count month on month is a conviction signal — it means more active managers are choosing to add or hold the stock. A falling count signals exits. The Overall % column on each sector page covers the full four-month window and is the primary signal to watch.

Which sectors show the highest active mutual fund conviction in India?

Banks, IT, Pharmaceuticals, and FMCG consistently attract the highest number of active mutual fund holdings by stock count and AUM. However, absolute fund count matters less than the trend — a stock gaining funds rapidly in a smaller sector like Fintech or Capital Markets can signal early institutional conviction before the broader market catches on.

Use the market cap categories page to filter by large cap, mid cap, or small cap across all sectors. You can also use the SIP calculator to plan investments in funds with concentrated sector exposure. For regulatory context on fund disclosures, refer to AMFI India and SEBI India.

Are index funds and ETFs included in the stock and AUM counts shown here?

No — all stock counts and AUM figures on this page exclude index funds, ETFs, and fund of funds. Only actively managed equity mutual funds are counted. Index funds mechanically replicate their benchmark — their holdings do not reflect active manager conviction. By excluding them, the data here more accurately shows where professional stock pickers are choosing to allocate capital.

Data sourced from monthly portfolio disclosures published by mutual funds as required by SEBI. Only actively managed equity funds counted — index funds and ETFs excluded. Stock counts and AUM reflect the latest available month (Jun 2026).
