Axis Mutual Fund · Direct Growth · SEBI Category: ELSS
Axis ELSS Tax Saver Fund is India's largest ELSS fund by AUM — a position built over many years of consistent quality-growth investing. The fund invests in a diversified portfolio of equity and equity-related instruments while offering investors the dual benefit of potential long-term capital appreciation and tax deduction under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act up to ₹1.5 lakh per year.
The fund applies the same quality-growth philosophy that Axis Mutual Fund is known for — focusing on businesses with strong competitive moats, high return on equity and capable management teams. The 3-year lock-in period, rather than being a constraint, actually supports this philosophy by encouraging patient, long-term holding of quality businesses without pressure to exit during short-term corrections.
Jinesh Gopani was the original fund manager who built Axis ELSS Tax Saver Fund into India's largest ELSS scheme. Shreyash Devalkar subsequently took over the management applying the same quality-growth philosophy — focusing on businesses with durable competitive advantages and strong management quality. The quality-growth filter is applied consistently regardless of the mandatory 3-year lock-in structure.
